You have to give Rahm "Frank Nitti" Emanuel (I don't care how you spell his name) his due. It was apparently his idea to recruit seemingly conservative Democrats to run for the House in largely Republican districts. He was obviously counting on getting a majority, and then being able to bully, bribe, or cajole enough "blue-dogs" into voting with the Democrat leadership and against the wishes of the constituents who voted them in. If they get the Health Care Hostile Takeover through Congress, who can say he wasn't deviously brilliant?
Actually, it was probably easier than it could have been, because they have something to offer hesitant Democrats afraid of losing their seats. With a health care bill that will create over 100 new federal panel, bureaus and other swarms of tax vampires, all the White House had to do was offer any Democrat who voted against his or her constituents and loses their congressional seat as a result will be given a nice, cushy post on one of if the new entities.
It's sleazy, it stinks, and that's the Democrat Party of today. No difference between the parties?
