Today is the 29th anniversary of my older brother's death, which is not what I want to write about today, but it may help to explain the (hopefully) ill-mannered and (regrettably) fragmentary nature of the below.  sometimes honesty must over-power courtesy, especially since the nature of today's populace has rendered courtesy a weakness.  You have been warned.



To the surprise of no-one, Time Magazine has again chosen the Lizard King as its Man of the Year.  I understand that the vote was tabulated in St. Lucie County, and B.O. won with 140% of the vote counted.  I certainly hope that the award was not given for the LK's contributions to good government and fair elections. 

The Crab does not object to the First Reptile winning the award.  After all, the honor has been awarded in the past to such leading lights of liberty as Nikita Khrushchev, Vladamir Putin, Deng Xiaoping, Mikhail Gorbachev (also a two-time winner), Josef Stalin (like Obama a two-time winner), Yuri Andropov, Pierre Laval (who was executed as a traitor to his country 14 years after winning the award in 1931), Judge John Sirica (who like Obama won the award for abusing his authority), and of course Adolf Hitler.

Among that lot Obama fits in rather nicely.



The Crab notes with disgust that the Lizard King has nominated the treasonous Senator John Kerry to succeed Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.  It's typical of B.O. to make such a repulsive choice.  Kerry, as many have noted, committed treason by negotiating with North Vietnam's communist leaders while he was still a member of the US Navy reserve.  As we all know by now (and if YOU don't shame on you), Kerry also lied about the brave military personnel who fought in Vietnam, accusing them of multiple war crimes in hearings before Congress.  In fact, I don't have the time or the stomach to detail all of this man's squalid acts here; for a more detailed directory to Kerry's putridness go here.

Of course, if communism is your bag like it is Bolshie Barry's, then Kerry's a fine choice.  He supported it in Vietnam, he supported it in Nicaragua, he supported it in El Salvador (along with bulbous blowhard Ed Asner), and he has opposed it ... nowhere.

He will if confirmed no doubt support any and all international treaties that contradict our Constitution (that's the only way you can become a Democrat Party leader these days).  He pronounces himself a firm believer in the global warming fraud; it is in fact one of the few firm principles he holds.  In addition he has proven in the past to be rather a squish when in foreign lands, as P. J. O'Rourke details here.  He is in the worst possible way an opportunist, he has been caught lying too many times to count, and for all of his egomaniacal bluster he is not all that intelligent.  He would be an American Ribbentrop; a shallow, vain and silly man totally unsuited for any task requiring intelligence or strength of character.  Our allies would not trust him, and our enemies would likely push him around like a dust mop.

It may be that the Republicans in the Senate lack the votes to stop him, but they must make their case against this dreadful man as publicly as possible.  Just because he's the choice of the man (if human he is) who stole a second term in the White House doesn't mean he should receive any more courtesy than that given to Judge Robert Bork.



Speaking of that late, great jurist, I think that too few Republicans and conservatives don't recognize the ways in which the "Borking" of the man some described as "the most qualified nominee to the Supreme Court in history" marked a terrible change in our politics.  When that blowhard boozer Ted Kennedy delivered his appalling slanders during the Senate Judiciary Committee's hearings on the Bork nomination, he was declaring war on tradition and serving notice that the liberals (unable to win popular support for their more Kevorkian-like policy prescriptions) would henceforth move their fight to drag resisting free Americans into subjugation through the courts.  Furthermore, the way they attacked Judge Bork served notice (or should have) that this war would be "war to the knife, and the knife to the hilt".  No more fair treatment of Republican nominees.  No more 98-0 confirmations of conservative nominees like Antonin Scalia.  From now on the Demoncrats would fight and win "by any means necessary".  Honor was out the window.

President Reagan, good, decent soul that he was, didn't realize until it was too late just what the Democrats were doing to his nominee.  He thought the old rules still applied -- as long as the President chose a qualified nominee, the Senate, in a non-partisan way, would confirm them to the Court.  After all, FDR's nominee Hugo Black had been confirmed to the court even after it was revealed that Black had been a member of the Ku Klux Klan!  By the time Reagan realized that he would have to fight personally the slanders of the Democrats, it was too late.  In one of the most appalling acts in Senate history, the brilliant Bork's nomination to the Supreme Court was defeated, 58-42.

Since then, at least three of the last four Democrat nominees to the Court have been transparently partisan in nature.  Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a radical attorney who had worked as General Counsel for the ultra-radical ACLU.  Placed on the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia by Jimmy Carter, her 13 year tenure was distinguished for its total lack of distinction.  Despite this record, she was nominated to the highest court in the land by Billy Jeff Clinton.  The Republicans in the Senate mounted no serious opposition to giving this lifetime radical this lifetime post, and Ginsburg became an Associate Justice.

Unsurprisingly, things have worsened under the Lizard King Barack Obama.  His first nominee to the Court, Sonia Sotomayor, was so obviously a ethnicity/gender selection rather than a merit-based one that some observers failed to note that she was nominated not to be a "wise Latina", but to be a lock-step liberal vote on the bench.  The best evidence that she would be a lock-stepper was her unanimous "Well Qualified" designation by the American Bar Association, which you can only get BY being a perpetual portsider.  B.O.counted on the usual Republican timidity when faced with minority nominees to grease the skids for his intellectually vacuous choice to slide through the Senate, and that was essentially what happened.

(It is worth noting that in counting on that old Republican timidity, B.O. was in no way being foolhardy.  After all, when faced with a minority nominee to the Cabinet who was actually a known law-breaker, the Republicans had shrunk from their duty, and that's how we got Eric Holder as head of the Department of Injustice.)

With the nomination of Elena Kagan B.O. made it crystal-clear.  He nominated his Solicitor General to the Supreme Court to get the necessary fifth vote to get his wildly unconstitutional and liberty-destroying "Obamacare" scheme through the Supreme Court.  They're not even bothering to make it look legitimate anymore.  Kagan had no distinguished record as a judge for a very good reason -- she had never even been a judge.  What was known about Kagan is that she was and is a wild-eyed radical, but to the modern Democrats that is qualification enough to be placed on the highest court in the land.  The Republicans managed to produce 37 "No" votes against the latest to-be-tenured radical, but she was confirmed to the court in time to be the fifth vote for the (Eliminating) Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  Maybe you thought that the Supreme Court Justice who had as a member of the Obama Politburo helped lay out the legal strategy that would be used to defend the very law that she would help rule on as Justice would recuse herself.  Maybe you believe in the Tooth Fairy and faeries, too.

It all started with Robert Bork, and until the Republicans stop wearing boxing gloves against Democrats wielding knuckle knives, they will continue getting cheated and defeated.

When my wife told me that Hillary Clinton had suffered a concussion, I replied "Good.  Somebody should have kicked her butt years ago."  (Think about it.)



The Hollywood Occupiers have a new trick, and as a public service I reveal it here.  They have introduced a fake right, lurch left technique for new shows.  Tim Allen's new show "Last Man Standing" is a perfect example.  In the show, Allen plays "Mike Baxter, a father of three daughters and the director of marketing for 'Outdoor Man', a sporting goods store. He is a so-called 'manly-man,' and he believes in old-fashioned values" (as described by Wikipedia).  His daughter Kristin is a liberal, and very
"hip" (is it still called that?), of course, not like her troglodyte conservative father.  The scripts were not particularly left-wing by Hollywood standards at first, as the show's producers were trying to build a regular audience.  This season, however, the scripting has lurched of into far-left propagandizing, with the episode "Mother Fracker" being particularly nauseating.

I wish more parents were "hip" to this sort of indoctrination.  It's easy to watch a few episodes of a new series with the kids, and then decide it's safe to let them watch without you, as you think the show will remain harmless.  Beware!  "They're coming for the children!"
